Hey guys. I'm going to be reviewing Colin Zwirner's Modular Rails today. I received my rail through his discounted review opportunity. He has since ended this promo, so please don't ask about it.

About the owner: Colin Zwirner is the owner of Motive Fingerboards. Making top notch fingerboards since early 2009. He has built a reputation for offering some of the highest quality decks possible at an affordable price. His rails are no exception. Colin is a very personable owner, and will provide some of the best customer service is the business.

Shipping: Colin shipped the rail out the day after I was accepted for the review. I received it quickly thereafter. The packaging was very well done. The body of the rail itself was packaged inside of a Ziplock bag separate of the assembly pieces, which were packed wrapped in packing paper and taped securely together. Everything was then put into a large bubble mailer. No damage came to the rail or the assembly pieces during shipping thanks to Colin's cautious packaging.

Craftsmanship: The rails are CNC manufactured using aluminum, which is lighter and stronger than steel. The tolerances for CNC machines are smaller than one one thousandth of an inch. Insuring that your product will always assemble correctly, sit level, and be incredibly fun to use. After machining, the rails are then anodized to a very attractive matte black color. Anodizing is a process where the actual material itself is altered at the molecular level to be a more perfect crystalline structure. Allowing it to be dyed to the beautiful black color you see. This process makes the Aluminum even stronger and scratch resistant. These rails will last forever with the proper care.

Special features: The Motive Modular rail is unlike any rail ever produced for fingerboarding. It's features will change fingerboarding as all of us know it for years to come. The modular ability of the rail enables cheap shipping and a portability not seen in fingerboarding to date. The feet of the rail are attached using black anodized chromoly. These screws should never strip or break if taken care of and used properly. The feet themselves are an inventive circular shape with two slotted grooves machined in their surface. The purpose of these grooves is to fit two standard o-rings. This design enables the rail to sit flat and secure on most any surface and with either feet displaced. Whether you want a down rail or an up rail. This is the perfect rail for you! This rail will also work with any ramp out today. Meaning you don't have to buy special rails for your stair sets or banks or any other ramp you can think of! The use of this rail is basically endless.

Performance: This rail is smooth with any brand of trucks. I have used Tech Deck regular, wide, factory painted, shaped trucks, +blackriver-ramps+ Trucks, No Comply Trucks, and YTrucks on this rail. All have been smooth. This rail grinds and slides incredibly well. It sits level all of the time also. I have tried every way feasible to use this rail, and it hasn't failed me yet. Never once wobbling or falling over during normal usage. It's become my favorite rail to use. This comes from a person who never enjoyed rails much. I find myself using this rail just as much as my PlyWood Ramps box and ledge. And most of the time, I'm using them all at the same time, thanks to the versatility and good times this rail offers.

Final thoughts: I highly recommend this rail to anyone who is looking to expand either their abilities or simply the collection of ramps under their bed. This rail will make fingerboarding much more enjoyable whether you're just starting out or are a seasoned veteran. Buy a rail! Or even two! You never know what you'll think of with one of these rails... Thanks to their design, you'll be able to do it!

The size of the feet really help with stability.
